Youth Clubs &
Youth Clubs and Support
Running the afternoon and evening youth clubs is core to the activities at the Youth Centre.
Loads to do - check out the facilities here.
Top of the range equipment and toys to keep people busy including: Computers, pool table, xbox, wii, music room, guitars, drum kit, bouncy castle, tuck shop and lots more.
Sessions usually have a focus or an activity which vary and may include: sports, heathly cooking, issue based sessions (like sexual health or drug awareness, depending on the group and ages etc)
With no pressure to join in, young people can come and relax in their own space, or get involved as much as they wish to.
Youthy is a relaxed, friendly place. All are welcome, as long as they are prepared to join in and get to know the staff, the group and the centre.
Youth Clubs - so much going on, 3 main youth club groups:
13yrs + Youthy
Loads going on........
This inclusion style club is for young people who may need a little extra support
Monday Club 9-13yrs
Prince's Trust XL Course
This 10 week programme leads to nationally recognised certificates. Covering leadership, lifeskills (like cooking, personal planning etc). It is to a high level, scoring similar points to a GCSE. The whole course is planned, and recorded by the students, a great excercise in itself, and engaging sessions are run to build skills and enjoy learning in an alternative environment to school.
The youth workers are trained counsellors (degree level), BUT when a person needs proper counselling they need to talk to an independent person.
PRYC have an independent fully qualified and experienced cousellor that runs 4 sessions a week. If you feel you need to talk to a counsellor - contact the youth team.
Sexual Health support
Outreach Time4U @ Pershore High
fortnightly Mondays 6.30pm-8pm
Fun club, great introduction to Youth Club, activities, but also just a time to relax and enjoy.
Young Parents sessions
PRYC work with the young parents of the area. Great group of parents and their babies and todlers. The group enables practical sessions for what ever the group want or will help them with the development stages of their little ones.
The sexual health nurse visits the centre as 'outreach' from the time4U project. If any young person has a question, or needs free contraception, talk to the youth team and they can set you up to see the nurse. Asking for help can be uncomfortable for people of any age - but dont worry, its confidential and really is the safest and easiest place to get advice and help
Every week the trained and qualified youth support team accompany the NHS sexual health team to the High School time4U. This adds an extra dimension to their drop in session and gives young people a wider scope for answering their questions and gaining support they need.
Residentials, away trips, are a great way to enhance young people's lives, while giving quality time for youth work input. The young people plan the trip, budgets, food shopping and there is always a theme to add an educational twist.
Alchol and Drug awareness
The youth team are trainned in delivering sessions on awareness about the types of things young people will come into contact with, and that could effect their lives. "Drugs are illegal - talking about them isnt" By building informative sessions into occasional youth clubs (only when appropriate), or focussing on a topic for a couple of weeks, sessions are delivered in a friendly, non judgemental way, to ensure young people are happy to engage, know the potential dangers and are well informed.
PRYC have a careers advisor, onsite, every Thursday afternoon (some Wednesdays) - 'The Post 16 Engagement Team'. As well as this, the youth workers are all trainned in how to produce top notch CV's, personal development and have access to the latest job, courses and apprentiship information. Ready to help with any questions and co-ordination...
